Balugaon: A 10-foot python fell into the net of a fisherman while he was fishing in the Chilika Lake in Odisha, on Tuesday.
The fisherman, the younger son of Dinabandhu Champaty from Lambadharpur village near Balugaon in Khurda district, was fishing in Chilika when the giant python fell into his net.
Initially, he couldn’t lift the net alone, thinking it was filled with fish. He called nearby fishermen for help, and together they lifted the net to find the python curled up and hissing.
The fishermen were frightened and promptly informed the forest department. After getting information, the Chilika Wildlife Forest Department officials arrived at the scene and rescued the python.
Later, the huge snake was released into the nearby Kaliyugeshwar forest. The python is estimated to be 10-12 feet long and weigh around 50 kg.
