Bhubaneswar: Cybercrimes in Odisha have surged as Rs 222 Crore have been lost in just 16 months while only Rs 7 Cr has been recovered, informed former DGP BK Sharma.
Sharma on his X handled shared a data on his X handle (@BijayKumarShar7) which revealed that cyber criminals looted an astonishing Rs 222 crore in just 16 months ending November 2024, yet the recovery stands at barely Rs 7 crore, which is around 3% only.
While delayed reporting by victims does contribute to low recovery, it cannot fully explain such a wide gap, he informed adding that the quality, speed, and technical capacity of investigations clearly need urgent strengthening as the victims want money back or else they would lose confidence on the system.
