Sambalpur: Farmers in Sambalpur district of Odisha have staged a protest on Friday over irregularities in the issuance of tokens for paddy procurement. They have blocked the National Highway at three locations: Remed, Sindurpank, and Dhama to press their demands.
According to information received, at least 60,000 farmers in Sambalpur district have registered to sell their harvested paddy during the paddy procurement, but around 19,000 of them have allegedly not received their tokens.
Furthermore, some farmers who received tokens for the first lot have reportedly not received the same for the second phase.
The farmers, unhappy with the situation, have staged the protest, seeking resolution to the issue
