Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths has apprehended the Inspector in Charge (IIC) of CRRI police station, Cuttack for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a licensed liquor vendor.
Barik was apprehended at Rajmahal Chhak in Bhubaneswar, and the entire bribe money has been recovered and seized.
Simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Barik to investigate potential disproportionate assets.
Around Rs 5 lakh cash has been recovered during house search at his government quarters located at Unit 1, Bhubaneswar. Searches are underway.
He is being interrogated on the bribe demand and the source of recovered cash. Investigation continuing.
A case has been registered against him under Cell Division PS Case No 1/2026, U/s-7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
