Dhenkanal: Police on Sunday arrested a man in connection with an attempt-to-murder case reported at Bhapur village under Sadar Police Station limits in Dhenkanal district.
The accused has been identified as Sukuta Naik, a resident of Bhapur village. He was arrested in connection with an attack in which a villager sustained grievous facial injuries after being allegedly assaulted with a stone, police said.
According to police, the incident took place on April 27, 2026, when the victim was attacked within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged and a case was registered under relevant provisions of law.
During investigation, police teams collected technical evidence, recorded witness statements, and gathered other material clues. Acting on credible information, the accused was apprehended on Sunday.
Police have also recovered the weapon allegedly used in the offence.
Further investigation into the case is in progress.
