Odisha Schools Asked To Nominate Students For Bal Puraskar

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, on Tuesday directed higher secondary schools across the state to nominate exceptionally talented students for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2026, a national-level civilian honour for children.

In an official notification, the council invited nominations for the award through the national portal https://awards.gov.in, with the last date for submission set as July 31, 2026. The PMRBP recognises outstanding achievements of children below 18 years of age as of the cutoff date.

According to the council, nominations are being sought in line with instructions received from the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. Schools have been asked to identify students who have demonstrated exceptional talent, achievement, or contribution in diverse fields.

The award covers six categories: Bravery, Social Service, Environment, Sports, Art & Culture, and Science & Technology. CHSE has urged institutions to ensure wide dissemination of the information among teachers and students so that deserving candidates are not left out.

Schools have also been instructed to actively encourage participation from girls, students from economically weaker sections, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, as well as Divyang (differently-abled) children.

The initiative aims to recognise young achievers at the national level and promote a culture of excellence, dedication, and social contribution among children across the country.
