ODISHA NEWS - Tension prevailed at the Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) office in Bhanjanagar after an employee attempted self-immolation over alleged termination from the job on Wednesday. The employee, identified as Bhaktarama Sahu, an enforcement supervisor, reportedly poured petrol on himself in a desperate bid to set himself ablaze. Alert colleagues present at the office intervened swiftly and managed to rescue him before any major tragedy.
Despite raising his concerns with senior officials, Sahu allegedly received no resolution, pushing him into despair. “We have given 3-4 years of our lives to TPSODL enforcement. Now, they have sent us a letter to discontinue. If our performance was poor, they could have served us with notices. But, without any proper notice, they have directly sent us letters to discontinue. So, I have decided to die,” claimed the complainant Bhaktaram Sahu.
When contacted for a response, TPSODL authorities refused to comment on the matter. An investigation into the incident is underway, police sources said.
The shocking incident has sparked discussions on employee welfare and grievance redressal mechanisms within the organization.
