Visakhapatnam couple donates golden sacred thread worth Rs. 3.86 crore to Tirupati temple

 Tirupati: In a shocking incident, a couple from Visakhapatnam has made a remarkable offering at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala by donating a golden Yagnopaveetam (sacred thread).


According to the reports, the sacred thread weighed 3.86 kilograms and was valued at around Rs. 3.86 crore. It is multi-layered, embedded with diamonds and was specially crafted for this purpose.

The donors, identified as Puvvada Mastan Rao and his wife Kumkuma Rekha presented the offering on Wednesday at the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the temple. The Yagnopaveetam is considered one of the most significant adornments of the deity.

The offering was formally received by TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the temple administration. In appreciation of their devotion, the couple was reportedly honoured with Srivari Theertha Prasadam (holy water offering).

The Tirumala temple which is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, is known as the wealthiest Hindu shrine in the world.

Additionally, the TTD also revealed during a press conference at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, that the board has approved the construction of a new temple in Belagavi, Karnataka.
