Bhubaneswar: The low pressure has developed into a deep depression, and will induce heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha. The eye of the deep depression is located only 300 km away from Puri.
It is in the South to southeastern direction from Gopalpur. The depression is advancing at a speed of 10 kmph in the last six hours. As a result, heavy rainfall has lashed out in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha from yesterday.
It is predicted to cross the Southern Odisha and Northern Andhra Pradesh coast by October 3. The rainfall will continue till tomorrow.
The two districts of Jagatsighpur and Puri have been issued a red warning from heavy rain.
Similarly, for heavy to heavy rainfall, 14 districts have been issued an orange warning. For heavy rainfall, yellow warning has been issued to 9 districts by the IMD.
The deep depression is likely to form at the Bay of Bengal predicted the IMD on October 1. But the JTWC had issued a cyclone alert for Bay of Bengal unlike the IMD.
