Jharkhand: In a shocking incident, a knife attack took place during Durga idol immersion procession in Jharkhand, leaving seven youths injured on Friday. The incident happened near Harijan Basti in Chakradharpur.
According to the reports, a group of youths had just completed the immersion rituals of their Durga Puja pandal and were returning. During this, around 15 unidentified assailants suddenly joined the procession and started stabbing people.
The attackers targeted the Youths on different parts of their bodies before fleeing the scene, creating panic. The injured youths were rushed to nearby hospital, where the doctors confirmed that one of them is in critical condition.
The attack reportedly took place just a short distance away from police station. Further, police teams reached the spot soon after and stated that several suspects have already been identified.
They have started an investigation into the matter. Additionally, officers will be reviewing CCTV footage and recording statement to trace the culprits.
Soon after the incident, residents of the locality gathered at the hospital in large numbers and protested through the night, demanding strict action and immediate arrests.
