Jajpur: A ninth class student drowned while bathing in the Kharasrota river on Saturday near Sarifabad Ghat in Bahadalapur panchayat in Jajpur.
The deceased student has been identified as Sai Sarathi, the only son of Rajendra Kantha of Baransa village in Mugupal panchayat.
Sources revealed that Sai had gone to the river to bath with his friends when he suddely started to drowned in the water body. The locals immediately started to rescue him and informed the Fire Department. After extensive search and rescue operation, the Fire Department personnel finnally managed to recover his body from the river.
A pearl of gloom has descended over the area after the death of Sai.
