Phulbani, December 29, 2025: Preparations for the much-awaited Kandhamal Mahotsav in Kandhamal district are in full swing. Today, the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for the erection of stalls for the festival was performed in the presence of the Sub-Collector, Project Administrator (PA) ITDA, Deputy CEO, and BDO Phulbani.
Subsequently, the stall construction work was formally inaugurated by the Deputy CEO of Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS). During the occasion, the attending officials highlighted the significance of the Mahotsav.
The Kandhamal Mahotsav serves as a major platform to promote the district’s rich cultural heritage, handicrafts, agricultural products, and tourism. Through various stalls, local artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs will showcase their products. Special emphasis will be given to the traditional dances, songs, and handicrafts of the tribal communities. It is expected that the festival will boost the district’s economic development and increase income opportunities for local residents.
Senior officials from the district administration were present at the Bhumi Pujan and inauguration programme. They appealed to the local people to extend their cooperation in making the Mahotsav a grand success. It is believed that in the coming days, this festival will become a major attraction for Kandhamal.
This event is seen as an important step towards the district’s development and cultural advancement. Local residents have welcomed it with great enthusiasm.
