Over 4,000 aspirants with graduates, postgraduate degrees appear for Home Guard jobs in Jharsuguda

 Jharsuguda: After the viral video of aspirants taking exam at a airport strip in Sambalpur, now another incident has shown the scarcity of job vacancies amid high demand of job aspirants in Odisha. On Sunday, more than 4,000 job aspirants turned up for the written examination for just 102 Home Guard posts in Jharsuguda district.


Moreover, some of the applicants are highly educated with graduates and postgraduates, appeared for the exam that required education qualification of only fifth grade. The aspirants are forced to look for low-paying and temporary government-linked jobs due to the lack of regular employment opportunities.

According to sources, a total of  4,040 candidates took the written test for 102 vacancies. The examination was held at the Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP) Battalion ground. As per the recruitment process, 1,010 candidates will be shortlisted from the written examination to appear for the physical efficiency test. The final selection will be made after evaluating performance in both stages.

Recently, similarly kind of scenes were witnessed in Sambalpur when around 8,000 candidates appeared for just 187 Home Guard posts at the Jamadarpali Airstrip.
