Puri: The police has made extensive security arrangements for the upcoming New Year 2026 celebrations, anticipating a massive influx of lakhs of devotees and tourists. As part of the security plan, 60 platoon of police forces will be deployed during the new year to ensure safety of devotees.
Moreover, 10 additional Superintendents of Police, 33 DSPs, 62 inspectors, and 245 sub-inspectors will also be deployed for effective crowd control. Specialized units including lifeguards, ODRAF, and STF teams will also be stationed at strategic locations.
To keep the law and order, stringent traffic diversions, particular parking zones, barricades, and public announcement places have been arranged. The police has warned that there will be zero tolerance for antisocial behavior.
The police has requested the pilgrims and tourists visiting Puri to visit Jagannath temple and the beach area in a peaceful and organised manner.
