Bhubaneswar: The first phase of the census will begin in Odisha from April. The census will be conducted house by house. The second phase will be conducted in February 2027.
The preparations for the census were reviewed in a high-level meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan today. Senior officers were present in the high-level meeting chaired by the Development Commissioner.
The preparations for the census in the state have been going on for 6 months. The newly announced NAC and municipal boundaries have been finalized. Training will be given to census officers for the next 3 months. One census officer will be appointed for 200 houses. One supervisor will be appointed for 6 officers. A census officer will get a financial incentive of Rs 25,000. The houses will be marked in the first phase between April and May. The census will be conducted in the second phase from February 2027. If a person wants, he can register his information through the website. OTP will be based on mobile number. About 90 percent will be done online. The entire process will be monitored at a high level. 100 percent accurate counting will be done, informed Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, the Director of Census Operations (DCO), and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) Odisha.
