Srikakulam: In a heart-wrenching incident, at least three persons from Odisha were killed while two others sustained critical injuries as the car on which they were traveling met with an accident in Andhra Prdesh today.
The deceased have been identified as Kanakalata, Abalya, and Aditya while the injured as Nagaraju and Janakiramana.
The tragic accident took place at Baruva in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh when the car of the deceased and injured persons, who belong to Bhubaneswar, was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The car was on its way to Visakhapatnam from Bhubaneswar when the mishap occurred.
The impact of the mishap was so severe that the car was completely damaged while the truck went-off the road and landed in a roadside farmland.
Soon, the local residents rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation. The local police also reached the accident site and started an investigation into the matter. They sent the injured persons for treatment and bodies for postmortem.
In another such tragic accident, three persons died on the spot as a car (OD 14 U 8103) rammed into a parked ash-loaded truck (OD 15 U 9104) at Naxapali area in Sambalpur district this afternoon.
The victims have been identified as Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Ziaul. However, the identity of another person is yet to be established.
A team of cops from the Dhanupali police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
