Bonai: A rogue tusker elephant has caused havoc in Sundargarh district of Odisha. Especially the elephant has destroyed crop in the Bonai area.
As per the locals, the beast takes cover in the local forests during the day and after sunset ventures into human habitat. It roams in villages like Tamara, Barghata, Bandhabhuin, Dantad Dahichur, Sana Bhaludunguri, Mankada Chua, Bartankela, Purunapani and Salepali in Bonai area.
The villagers have complained that the tuskers have damaged houses, broken down walls and destroyed crops. They have also carried away sacks of rice and paddy from people’s houses in the night.
It has been a matter of constant concern to the villagers, who are spending sleepless nights on the village road-sides with families, abandoning their homes for safety.
