Kakatpur: Vegetable cultivation has been severely affected due to dense fog in Beguniabasta village under the Astaranga area of Puri district of Odisha. The foggy weather is causing pest infestation in the vegetable crops that has left farmers in distress.

Farmers reported that Vegetable crops such as eggplant (brinjal), cabbage, and beans are damaged by pest infestations, which have increased because of prolonged foggy conditions and moisture.
The sudden spread of pests has raised concerns among local farmers, as the damage threatens their livelihood and investment for the season.
Many fields are showing visible signs of crop loss, and yields are expected to decline if the situation continues. Farmers have urged the agriculture department to conduct field inspections and provide timely assistance, including technical guidance and compensation, to help them cope with the losses.
