Winter in Odisha: IMD issues orange warning for dense fog for four districts of Odisha

 Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for dense fog for Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, and Khordha districts of Odisha.

The IMD has also warned that the dense fog will continue to prevail across the state for the next four days.

The dense fog and intense cold has affected the daily life in the state as the visibility has dropped to as low as 50 meters in several places.


Meanwhile, the temperature in various places of the state has remained below 12 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Phulbani was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours and 12 degrees in Cuttack and 12.5 degrees in Bhubaneswar.

The temperature will increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the next 2 days, predicted the regional Meteorological Department. Following which, the temperature will go on a downward trend by 2 to 4 degrees, bringing in bone chilling cold.

Dense fog situation is said to prevail till January 6 across the state.

The flight operations at the Bhu aneswar airport has also been disrupted due to the cold wave.

The authorities have also ordered to paise the operations of boats in the Chilika lake till 11 am to avoid accidents due to dense fog.
