Bhubaneswar: A detailed security blueprint has been prepared for the BRICS Technical Meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group to be held in Puri from June 3 to 5, 2026, under India’s BRICS Presidency.
The District Collector said a three-tier security system has been put in place and focus has been given to safety, security, and sanitization. The city, hotels, and the venue will be under 24-hour CCTV surveillance with strict monitoring. Coordination meetings have already been held with various departments.
This is the first international summit of this scale to be hosted in Odisha. The three-day meeting will take place at Taj Puri Resort and will bring together representatives and experts from BRICS member countries to discuss disaster management, resilience building, and international cooperation.
Puri is ready to welcome delegates from 11 countries, including Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and China. Representatives will share experiences and work towards global disaster management and prevention, with special emphasis on early warning systems.
An intensive review is underway at Taj Hotel. Officials said the whole world is now watching the holy city as detailed discussions on global disaster management will be held in the pilgrim town. Hoteliers added that the event will be a major boost for tourism in Odisha and Puri.
