Malkangiri: Preparations for the launch of commercial flight services from Malkangiri airport have reached the final stage. The service is scheduled to be formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister.

An important virtual meeting was held in this regard under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport Department. District administration has ensured all related arrangements under the direct supervision of Malkangiri District Magistrate Pratesh Arvind Rajeshirke.

To make the flight operations smooth and well-organized, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabara Pradhan, Deputy Collector Swayam Siddharth Rout and other senior officials were present and reviewed ground-level preparations and coordination.

In the initial phase, non-scheduled commercial air services will start from Malkangiri under the RCS-UDAN scheme.

IndiaOne Air will operate 9-seater aircraft on the route. A special cell is being set up in the Collectorate premises for ticket booking and passenger assistance. The administration expressed hope that the launch of air connectivity will bring a major change in communication, business and tourism sectors in the tribal-dominated district.
