Bhubaneswar: The water level of Hirakud Reservoir stood at 624.04 feet on Thursday, with 12 sluice gates open as the reservoir continued to receive substantial inflow, according to the latest reservoir update.
Eight gates on the left and four on the right side of the dam are currently open. The average inflow into the reservoir was recorded at 2,64,685 cusecs, while the average outflow stood at 2,26,021 cusecs.
Of the total outflow, 1,91,760 cusecs was being released through the spillway and 31,320 cusecs through the power channel. Another 229 cusecs was being supplied for industrial use, while 2,712 cusecs was being released through canals.
Downstream, the discharge at Mundali was recorded at 5,82,865 cusecs, while 4,12,000 cusecs was flowing at Barmul and 3,95,000 cusecs at Khairmal. Patharla recorded a discharge of 60,887 cusecs, while Belgaon recorded 23,000 cusecs.
The latest figures indicate that the downstream flow continues to remain substantial, even as the reservoir’s average inflow showed a declining trend.
