Odisha Police Football Team Calls On DGP After FAO League Triumph

 Kataka: The Odisha Police Football Team, which recently clinched the Football Association of Odisha (FAO) Football League title, on Monday called on Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra at the State Police Headquarters here.

Congratulating the players on their achievement, DGP Mishra praised their talent, discipline and sporting excellence. He said Odisha Police sportspersons have been enhancing the reputation of the police force through their dedication and performances.

The DGP said the team’s success in the FAO Football League would inspire other sportspersons in Odisha Police to strive for excellence. He expressed hope that police sportspersons would achieve many more laurels in the future and bring further glory to the state police force.

The Odisha Police team emerged champions after defeating Young Utkal Club 5-1 in the FAO Football League final held at Barabati Stadium in Kataka on August 16.

Purushottam Keraketa scored twice for Odisha Police, while Lakhay Murmu, Raisen Tudu and Bijay Behera scored one goal each. The victory earned Odisha Police the championship trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, IGP (Personnel) Praveen Kumar and Sports Officer Nilamadhab Swain were also present during the interaction and encouraged the players.
