Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday concluded her three-day visit to Odisha after offering prayers at a Shiva temple in Ganjam district. She later returned to Bhubaneswar by the Presidential Special Train before flying back to New Delhi on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.
The President began the day with a visit to a Shiva temple near the Army Air Defence College in Golabandha, where she had stayed overnight after travelling to Ganjam by train on Tuesday. The rail journey had been planned as a precautionary measure in view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy monsoon rainfall across Odisha.
After offering prayers, Murmu boarded the Presidential Special Train to Bhubaneswar. Security was tightened at both Berhampur and Bhubaneswar railway stations to ensure smooth movement during the President’s visit. Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V said elaborate security arrangements had been put in place for the occasion.
Upon reaching Bhubaneswar, the President departed for New Delhi on a special IAF aircraft from Biju Patnaik International Airport. Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, and other senior officials were present at the airport to bid her farewell.
During her three-day visit, Murmu attended a series of official and religious engagements across the state. She inaugurated Jagadguru Kripalu University in Cuttack and visited Berhampur, where she offered prayers at the tribal shrine of Maa Kandhuni Devi and the Shiva temple at Taptapani.
The visit highlighted the President’s continued engagement with her home state through official programmes and visits to places of cultural and religious significance.
