Utkal Varsity Students Share SIR Field Experiences With CEO

 Bhubaneswar: Students of the Department of Political Science, Utkal University, who served as interns during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, on Monday presented their field experiences, observations and learnings before State Chief Electoral Officer R. S. Gopalan.

The presentation was held at the conference room of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office here at 3:30 pm and was followed by a meeting-cum-discussion session chaired by Gopalan.

During the session, the students presented a factual account of the challenges they faced during their fieldwork as part of the SIR exercise. They shared their observations on the ground-level implementation of the electoral roll revision process and discussed the methods they adopted during their internship.

The students also participated in a seminar where they shared their views on the revision of electoral rolls at the grassroots level. They discussed the different stages of the SIR process, field activities and the practical knowledge they gained during their internship.

Appreciating the students’ efforts and active participation, Gopalan said the role of young people is crucial in ensuring cleaner, error-free and more accessible electoral rolls. He also acknowledged the suggestions put forward by the students.

The meeting was attended by Additional CEO-cum-Special Secretary Sushant Kumar Mishra, FA-cum-Financial Advisor Sanjay Kumar Lugun, Deputy CEO Dr Lakshmi Prasad Sahu, Deputy CEO Anamika Singh, Deputy Secretary Dinamani Naik and Administrative Officer Sashwat Pradhan, besides the Utkal University interns.
