Sambalpur: Hirakud Dam authorities have opened two sluice gates — one on the left and one on the right — as the water level touched 625.91 feet on Wednesday morning.
According to the dam authorities, the reservoir is receiving a heavy average inflow of 2,19,651 cusecs, which is still on the rise. Against this, the total outflow stands at 67,175 cusecs. Of the water being released, 32,242 cusecs are going through the spillway, 31,992 cusecs through the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use, and 2,712 cusecs into the canal system.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation as the reservoir level continues its upward trend.
