Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain in the Odisha has dampened the Durga Puja festivities this year. The deep depression over Bay of Bengal induced rainfall in the state.
A deep depression crossed the Odisha coast near Gopalpur. It is likely to advance forward through Southern Odisha in the north-northwest direction. Today, it will gradually weaken and turn into a depression.
Due to this, rain is lashing out across the state. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some places.
IMD has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rain in 7 districts till 8:30 am today. Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Puri districts were in the red warning zone.
Orange warning was issued for 16 districts and yellow alert for 7 districts. Orange warning has been given to Sundergarh for very heavy rain today. Heavy rain tomorrow.
