Low pressure area develops over BoB, rainfall to lash out till October 4

 Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has developed in the west-central Bay of Bengal under the influence of a cyclonic circulation. It is expected to transform into a well marked low-pressure area and will induce rain in the state of Odisha.


It will move northwestwards and intensify further tomorrow morning. It is likely to intensify further over the northwest Bay of Bengal area adjacent to the west-central region and turn into a depression. It is likely to cross south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts on the October 3 morning.

An orange alert has been issued for Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kandhamal districts as there is a possibility of rainfall ranging from 7 to 20 centimeters tomorrow.

Similarly, the Regional Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh and Cuttack districts.

The rain will continue till the October 4. Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for 7 districts of South Odisha till 8:30 am today.

Yellow warning has been issued for seven districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri. Fishermen have been prohibited from going to sea from October 1 to 4.
