Phulbani : The 69th Odisha State School Karate Championship (Under-17 Boys and Girls) for the 2025-26 session was inaugurated today at the local Public School in Phulbani. Organized by the Odisha State School Sports Association and the Kandhamal District School Sports Association, the event will run from October 23 to 25. A total of 101 participants from eight districts across the state are competing in this championship.
The chief guest, Additional District Magistrate of Kandhamal, Shri Kushal Chandra Naik, emphasized that karate promotes physical fitness and self-defense. He wished the participants success and encouraged them to bring pride to the state and nation with their performances. Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer of Kandhamal Zilla Parishad, Shri Shambhunath Nandi, highlighted karate as a vital self-defense sport, particularly essential for girls. He also extended his best wishes for the competitors' future endeavors.
Presided over by District Education Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar Swain, who delivered the welcome address, the event featured vibrant cultural performances by artists that enthralled the audience. District Physical Education Officer Shri Sanjay Kumar Patra proposed the vote of thanks.

Laxmipriya Dei; Secretary of Kandhamal District Sports Association Shri Shiva Prasad Tripathy; District Sports Officer Shri Samir Kumar Nayak; Gajapati District Physical Education Officer Shri Surendra Kumar Patra; and Secretary of Public School Shri Bipracharan Patra. The event was also attended by physical education teachers, cultural artists, and media representatives.
