Phulbani : The Kandhamal district administration, in collaboration with the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, organized the District-Level Senior Citizens’ Day 2025 at the Biju Kalyan Mandap in Phulbani. The event aimed to honor and recognize the contributions of senior citizens while raising awareness about their needs and challenges.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Kandhamal, Shri Kushal Chandra Naik, urged senior citizens to prioritize their health through regular yoga and physical activity. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, fostering social connections, and leading a fulfilling life in their later years, setting an example for society.
Other distinguished guests highlighted the invaluable contributions of senior citizens and discussed the importance of addressing their concerns and requirements. The District Social Security Officer, Ms. P. Padma, delivered the welcome address, administered an oath, and elaborated on the significance of the day.
The event featured a range of activities tailored for senior citizens, including a yoga camp, a health check-up camp, and the distribution of medicines. Several senior citizens were felicitated for their contributions, and winners of various competitions held on the occasion were awarded certificates and mementos by the guests. Sub-Divisional Social Security Officer, Shri Dinesh Kahar, proposed the vote of thanks.
Among the esteemed guests were Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer, Shri Santosh Kumar Padhi; Additional Superintendent of Police, Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Mahapatra; Additional District Education Officer, Shri Pranay Kumar Nayak; President of the Senior Citizens’ Association, Shri Padma Charan Swain; Shri Sarbeswar Mishra; and Brahma Kumari Sabita. The event saw the participation of over a hundred senior citizens, students from various schools, members of the public, and media representatives.
