Cold wave to intensify in the next 24 hours across Odisha

 Bhubaneswar: Cold wave is all set to intensify across Odisha in the New Year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for January 1st, forecasting dense fog at several places across the state. An alert has been issued for 10 districts due to the likelihood of dense fog, while temperatures in 15 cities have dipped below 10 degrees Celsius.




According to the weather department, during the next 24 hours, there is a high probability of dense fog at isolated locations in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts. In addition, severe cold conditions are likely to be experienced at several places in Angul and Jharsuguda districts.

G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature of all time that is  3.6 degrees Celsius, indicating the severity of the cold wave. Foggy conditions continue to persist across the state. Even at around 9 am, Cuttack city remained under a thick blanket of fog, severely affecting visibility. The entire city appeared shrouded in a white cover due to the lingering dense fog.
