Basudevpur: A major accident was reported at Basudevpur in Bhadrak district after a head-on collision between a sand-laden Hyva truck and a trailer, leaving the driver trapped in cabin for hours.
The accident took place near Mataji Math Chowk on the Jamujhadi road.
As per reports, the Hyva truck was speeding and rammed into steel-laden trailer. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portions of both vehicles were completely mangled and the driver got trapped between cabin and steering wheel of the vehicle.
The locals informed the fire department and police about the incident. Upon receiving information, Basudebpur police and the local fire brigade rushed to the spot and launched a joint rescue operation.
With assistance from nearby residents, the trapped driver was rescued after two hours and rushed to the Basudebpur Health Centre.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Police have started a probe into the matter.
