Kendrapara: At least one person was killed after a massive fire broke out at a vegetable shop at Kalabuda Chhak under Kudanagari police station limits in Kendrapara district, Odisha.
The deceased man has been identified as Subas Mallik of Gobindapur village. According to sources, Subas was sleeping inside the vegetable shop late night when the fire suddenly broke out. He was trapped inside the shop and was burnt alive.
As per the sources, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, family members of the deceased have alleged that miscreants set the shop on fire from outside by locking the door. On seeing the fire locals rushed to help the man yet could not save him.
Police reached the spot and seized the body and sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. The investigation is underway. Tension prevailed in the area following the incident.
