Rourkela: Two wagons of a goods train derailed on the joint line of the Howrah–Mumbai main line near the Bondamunda Railway Station area in Rourkela.
The incident occurred when the goods train was en route from the Jharsuguda exchange yard to MCL.
The goods train was moving along the joint line near Bondamunda when the incident occurred, leading to the derailment of two wagons. A component of the pressure suspension system of the goods train suddenly fell off during movement. Following which, a component of the pressure suspension system of the goods train suddenly fell off during movement.
Soon after the derailment was reported, ailway officials, engineers and carriage-and-wagon staff reached the spot and began restoration work.
A technical investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
