Government doctors’ protest in Odisha called off

Bhubaneswar: The agitation that was going on by the government doctors in Odisha has been called off following discussions with the Health Minister at the Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) announced the decision after a positive and constructive dialogue with the government.

According to the sources, OMSA President Kishore Mishra said that the government has assured that several demands would be addressed by this evening, with commitments given for the fulfillment of the remaining issues. In view of that, the association has decided to postpone the protest.

It is to be noted that the government doctors across the state had launched an agitation from December 26, pressing a 14-point charter of demands. As part of the protest, doctors had resorted to a two-hour shutdown of OPD services across Odisha, affecting healthcare delivery statewide.
