Lucknow: In a gruesome double homicide, a man was arrested on charges of consuming flesh after killing his mother and wife in Kushinagar area of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning.
The accused has been identified as Sikandar Gupta (30), while the victims as Priyanka (28), and Runa Devi (60).

As stated by the police, the neighbours reported the disturbing sounds and Gupta acting erratically to the authorities after it was reported. By the time the officers got to the house, both women were dead with numerous injuries on their bodies.
It was also reported that Gupta had first assaulted them with sticks on the rooftop of his house. He then picked up a cement brick and repeatedly smashed their heads, killing both on the spot. He then mutilated the bodies and allegedly consumed portions of flesh from the skull belonging to the victims in front of the entire village.
Gupta was arrested on the spot, and he is still under detention at the local police station. Police officers have cordoned off the home as a crime scene and have started forensic analysis, post-mortem examination of the bodies of Priyanka and Runa Devi to determine the exact cause and sequence of fatal injuries.
According to the police, the accused is undergoing a mental evaluation during the investigation. Police are yet to ascertain the motive of the crime, and investigators are going through the statements of neighbours and family members to put together the events that preceded the murders.
The local community is in shock over the incident, with the residents terming the violence as unthinkable and terror-stricken.
More developments are likely to follow as the investigation continues with formal charges and hearings in court.
