PARADIP: In a major move to bolster eco-tourism and put Jagatsinghpur’s coastline on the global map, the Odisha Tourism Department has drafted a comprehensive Rs 9-crore development proposal to upgrade the 10-km stretch between Paradip and Siali beach.
The primary objective of this project is to secure the prestigious Blue Flag Beach certification for the area. Currently, Odisha boasts only two such internationally recognized beaches: the Golden Beach in Puri and Sunapur in Ganjam district.
By meeting the stringent global benchmarks for water quality, environmental management, safety, and visitor services, the government aims to transform the Paradip–Siali belt into a world-class destination.
Despite being a “picture-perfect white beach,” Paradip has remained largely absent from mainstream tourism circuits due to inadequate infrastructure.
Key Highlights of the Project:
Infrastructure Overhaul: Modern amenities and facilities to be developed along the 10-km coastal stretch.
Eco-Tourism Push: Focus on sustainable development to preserve the natural beauty of the “lesser-known” beaches.
Economic Impact: The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for the local population.
Target Audience: Aimed at attracting both domestic travelers and international tourists looking for pristine, untouched coastal environments.
At present, while hundreds of locals visit these shores daily, the lack of basic tourism infrastructure has been a major deterrent for long-distance travelers. This Rs 9-crore infusion is seen as the first major step in bridging that gap, ensuring that the Paradip–Siali stretch emerges as a major attraction in Odisha’s tourism portfolio.
