As per the information, Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi direct air service has been suspended since last December. Within one month of that there are plans to suspend 2 more major international air services from Bhubaneswar airport. Direct air services to important places like Dubai and Singapore will be suspended from Bhubaneswar after March 28.
IndiGo has suspended online booking for direct air services on these 2 routes after March 28.
Odia Samaj UAE organization has sought the intervention of the Odisha government in this regard. The aviation company is not giving any specific explanation in this regard. Odisha Samaj has written a letter to the Chief Secretary expressing its concern about this. It has written a letter to the Chief Secretary informing him about this and has sought immediate intervention.
If the Dubai flight service from Bhubaneswar is stopped, more than 40,000 Odias living in the UAE are likely to be affected. Similarly, the Dubai-Bhubaneswar flight service is important for going to and from other Gulf countries.
Odias living abroad do not only rely on this flight to come to Odisha. Rather, this flight has also strengthened Odisha’s tourism and trade relations with the Gulf countries.
Earlier, the Dubai-Bhubaneswar flight service was planned to be stopped in September 2025. However, due to the intervention of the Odisha Government, the flight service continued. Therefore, the Odia community in the UAE is seeking the intervention of the state government in this flight service issue as well.
