Preparations Underway for 77th Republic Day Celebrations in Kandhamal

Phulbani, January 10, 2026: A comprehensive preparatory meeting for the 77th Republic Day celebrations was held today at the Sadbhavana Conference Hall of the District Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Collector Shri Vedabhushan IAS.

As per tradition, the main Republic Day function will be organised at the Police Reserve Ground in Phulbani on January 26, 2026. The day will begin with the hoisting of the National Flag at 7:15 AM in all educational institutions and at 7:30 AM in all government and private offices across the district.

The District Information & Public Relations Office will coordinate the singing of Ramdhun at various locations, along with floral tributes at the statues of freedom fighters. School and college-level students will participate in speech competitions, general knowledge quizzes, and other cultural events.

The meeting discussed detailed arrangements for a host of programmes, including the ceremonial parade, mass physical exercises (Yoga/DPY), blood donation camps, distribution of fruits to patients at the District Headquarters Hospital, distribution of sweets to inmates of the district jail, and measures to ensure peace and law & order during the celebrations.

The meeting was conducted by Shri Gadadhar Patra, Project Administrator of Phulbani Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), who is also holding additional charge as District Information & Public Relations Officer and District Culture Officer.

The session was attended by Additional District Magistrate Shri Ramesh Chandra Jena, Additional District Magistrate Shri Kushal Chandra Naik, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Shri Shambhunath Nandi, Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer Dr. Santosh Kumar Padhi, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Ramendra Prasad, Project Director, District Urban Development Agency Shri Prabin Banua, Sub-Collector Phulbani Shri Vikari Sahu, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Phulbani Shri Subhrajit Biswal, along with senior officers from various departments, police officials, and representatives from the media.

Officials expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts from all departments, the 77th Republic Day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm, discipline, and public participation across Kandhamal district.
