Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, a youth died reportedly after falling into an open drain in Salia Sahi area of Bhubaneswar this afternoon.
According to reports, one Sinu Gagrai, who was residing in Hatiasuni area of Salia Sahi, was reportedly passing through a road close to an open drain near his house. However, accidentally his legs slipped and he fell into the open drain all of a sudden.
Some people present on the spot rescued Sinu in a critical condition as he had sustained severe head injuries and rushed him to the Capital Hospital for treatment. But the doctor declared him dead.
Though the drains of the area are kept open as the road construction is still underway, the local residents alleged that Sinu died due to the negligence of the officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). They claimed that Sinu died after falling in the drain as it was kept open. Besides, neither any security nor any precautionary measures were put in place to avoid such untoward incidents.
