Padma Shri Awardee Purnamasi Jani Falls Ill; Sub-Collector and ITDA Administrator Visit Her in Hospital

Phulbani, March 23 : Renowned tribal saint and folk poet Padma Shri Purnamasi Jani from Charipada village under Khajuripada block in Kandhamal district has been hospitalized after falling ill due to age-related ailments.
The 82-year-old Padma Shri awardee was first admitted to Khajuripada Medical facility and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the Medicine Department.
On Monday evening, Phulbani Sub-Collector Bhikari Sahu and ITDA Project Administrator Gadadhar Patra visited the ailing Padma Shri at the hospital. They inquired about her health condition and directed the hospital authorities to provide her with special ward facilities and high-quality medical care.
The Sub-Collector and the ITDA Administrator also presented her with fruits and expressed their best wishes for her speedy recovery.
It may be recalled that Purnamasi Jani fell ill on Sunday morning and was initially taken to the Khajuripada Community Health Centre. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani.
Purnamasi Jani, widely respected as a tribal saint and spontaneous poet, was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2021.
Prayers for her quick recovery are pouring in from across the district.
