Kandhamal Lok Mahotsav and Trade Fair 2026 Inaugurated with Grandeur

Kandhamal: The second edition of Kandhamal Lok Mahotsav and Trade Fair 2026 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and grandeur today, aiming to showcase the district’s rich cultural heritage and boost the local economy.
Kandhamal District Collector Bed Bhushan (IAS) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for inauguration, while Harish B. Shi (IPS) attended as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries formally inaugurated the festival and extended heartfelt congratulations to the Mahotsav Organising Committee for their commendable efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Bed Bhushan said, “This Lok Mahotsav is an excellent platform to highlight the vibrant cultural diversity and folk traditions of Kandhamal. It will not only provide entertainment to the people of the district but also create opportunities for local artisans, handicrafts, and traditional products to reach a wider audience.”
Guest of Honour Harish B. Shi added, “Such cultural events play a vital role in preserving and promoting the district’s cultural identity while encouraging tourism and local entrepreneurship. The youth can connect with their roots and explore new avenues through this festival.”
The 12-day event, which began today, will continue till April 19, 2026. Organized at the Coronation Ground, the fair features a wide range of colourful cultural programmes including folk dances, folk songs, traditional music, and vibrant performances by local artists.
Visitors can also explore numerous stalls showcasing local handicrafts, GI-tagged products, organic foods, agricultural produce, and various ethnic delicacies of Kandhamal.
The Organising Committee has extended a warm invitation to all residents and tourists to participate in this grand cultural celebration and experience the rich folk heritage of Kandhamal. The festival is expected to strengthen cultural awareness among the youth and open new business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
