Koraput: Nor’wester of Kalabaisakhi storm has heavily hit Koraput district of Odisha this afternoon. Especially heavy rain lashed down in the Kotpad area of the district.
As per the information received, after scorching heat throughout the day, heavy rain lashed down in the afternoon in the district. Nature showed its harsh side with lightning and thunder for two hours. According to the eye witnesses, it rained like a hurricane.
Heavy rain, wind, and lightning terrified people today afternoon in Kotpad area. The road was completely deserted during the Kalabaisakhi. Trees fell at various places on the national highway due to its effect.
On the Koraput-Rayagada National Highway No. 326, huge trees fell and blocked the road near Banglaguda and Podagarh villages. Vehicular movement was hampered.
Apart from that, due to the strong wind, all the tin sheets of a cashew mill in Banglaguda were blown away.
