Tikabali: In a shocking family feud, a 58-year-old man succumbed to injuries after being allegedly assaulted by his younger brother and nephew in Adimari village under Baplamendi-L Gram Panchayat in Tikabali police station limits, Baliguda sub-division of Kandhamal district.
According to reports, on May 9, Sudhir Pradhan (58) was severely beaten by his brother Shrimukhi Pradhan (35) and nephew Naresh Pradhan (30) over a dispute regarding an asbestos sheet. The accused were reportedly drunk at the time of the attack.
Sudhir was initially rushed to Tikabali Community Health Centre (CHC) by his wife for treatment and later taken home. However, his condition deteriorated, and on May 13, he was admitted to Khajuripada CHC. Doctors referred him to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital as his condition became critical. While his wife was transporting him to Phulbani for further treatment, Sudhir Pradhan died near Bausuni Nala on the way.
The deceased’s wife, Dulan Pradhan, lodged a written complaint at Tikabali Police Station, accusing her brother-in-law and nephew of the assault.
Tikabali police reached the spot, seized the body, and registered Case No. 104/26. The body has been sent to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Speaking on the matter, Tikabali Police Station IIC Samir Kumar Behera confirmed that further investigation is underway to ascertain the full facts of the case.
