Sundergarh: Police arrested three persons late on the night of May 17 for allegedly creating terror by abusing the security guard and firing a gunshot at the residence of prominent businessman Sanjay Nanda in the Mission Chhak area of Pabitra Nagar in Sundergarh.
Acting swiftly on the orders of the Superintendent of Police, three special teams were formed to crack the case. Based on reliable intelligence and technical surveillance, police arrested the three accused from different locations on the night of May 17 around 1:00 am. They were later produced in court. The arrested persons have been identified as MD Rahil (26) , Sanjay Kumar Patel (47), Guddu alias Radheshyam Yadav (22)
Police seized a Hyundai car, a motorcycle, a country-made pistol, a rifle, live ammunition, and an empty magazine from their possession.
Speaking to the media, the SP said the probe is continuing to track down other accused involved in the conspiracy. Further interrogation of the arrested persons is underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
According to police, the incident occurred between the night of May 16 and early hours of May 17. Around midnight, some unknown miscreants arrived in a car (registration number OD 16P 3455) and created a ruckus outside Sanjay Nanda’s house. They abused the security guard in obscene language and threatened to kill the businessman before fleeing the spot.
Barely an hour later, at around 1:20 am, one of the accused, MD Rahil, returned on a motorcycle, abused the guard again, and fired a single round towards the house, triggering panic in the area.
