New Delhi: The operation carried out in Thrissur district followed a routine vehicle inspection at Vaniyampara, where a car was stopped by the authorities.
The police claimed that one of the two women had kept 2 grams of MDMA with her, which was retrieved by the team.
Following the information received through interrogation of the first set of arrested persons, two subsequent raids were conducted.
According to sources, a total of 308 grams of MDMA, one of the biggest caches of the contraband seized in Thrissur in the recent past, was found.
Three more persons suspected of being part of the network were also apprehended by the authorities.
Officials said mobile phone evidence helped uncover the larger network.
Further investigations are underway to identify other people involved in the drug trafficking racket.
