Baripada: Crime against women continue to rise in Odisha with another minor girl rape case surfacing from Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a youth in Chandua police station area of the district.
The matter came to the light only after the girl informed her family members, who subsequently lodged a complaint against the accused at the Chandua police station.
Based on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested the accused, whose identity is yet to be revealed by the police.
Cops also sent the accused for medical examination before forwarding him to the court.
They are also further probing to ascertain to know under what circumstances the accused raped the minor girl.
On the other hand, the victim girl’s statements were also recorded and she went under medical examination as per the law.
The incident has shocked the entire locality with people condemning it and demanding stringent action against the accused.
