Gunupur: A 20-year-old youth died following a deadly collision between a school bus and a bike near Jagamanda area under the Padmapur police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Monday. Another person has sustained critical injuries in the accident.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Goutam Das of Dibirisi village near Jira under under Gudari police limits and the critically injured youth is 19-year-old Saroj Kumar Satpathi of Padmapur.
According to reports, both Saroj and Goutam were returning from Gumuda after finishing some personal work when they collided head-on with the bus of Abhyasha Tecno school coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the accident was so severe that both of them was thrown of heir bike into the road in a bloodied state.
The locals rushed to rescue both of them and called 108 ambulance to rush them to the Padmapur community Health Centre. However, the attending docotor declared Goutam dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Saroj was admitted in the hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was transferred to the Berhampur MKCG hospital as his condition deteriorated.
On receiving information, the Padmapur police reached the spot and seized the bus and bike. A case has been registered in this regars and investigation is underway.
