Rajnagar: A group of sand mafia allegedly attempted to attack the Additional Tahsildar of Rajnagar in Kendrapada district after intercepting his official vehicle during a routine enforcement drive against illegal sand transportation.
As per reports, Rajnagar Additional Tahsildar Ashish Kumar Jena was carrying out a routine enforcement drive when he tried to stop a Hyva truck transporting sand illegally. However, the truck driver sped away.
As the team chased the truck for 12 kilometres, another car belonging to sand mafia blocked the official vehicle of the Additional Tahsildar and made an attempt to attack the official in presence of the police.
Following which, Additional Tahsildar Jena lodged a written complaint at Rajnagar police station.
Later, the police have detained a person allegedly involved in the attack attempt. However, the Hyva truck carrying the sand managed to escape.
