Bansalapal: The death toll in the Tamil Nadu ammonia gas leak tragedy has reached 13 with the demise of another woman from Odisha during treatment on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Budhubari Nayak, a resident of Andhari Sahi under Aluri Panchayat within the Khamar police station limits of Angul district.
Two days ago, two women from Juang tribe, hospitalized after the gas leak at the shrimp factory, died during treatment in the hospital. The deceased were identified as Pitamabara Juanga’s daughter Rita Juanga of Tangiri Dubanali Sahi under Bimala Panchayat in Telakoi police limits of Keonjhar district and the other is Dipanjali Junaga of Talaraidiha village under the Gonasika panchayat of Bansapani block. With the death of these women, death toll had reached 10 yesterday.
The tragedy occurred at a shrimp processing factory where several workers from Odisha were employed. The gas leak occurred outside the rooms where the workers were staying, exposing them to toxic fumes.
